“ashion is about something that comes from within you” – Ralph Lauren
Come the wedding season, and the need to ramp up our wardrobe becomes a dire necessity, (even though it is already flooded with our previous stuff – but it never seems enough – right?). And we surely do know how to make space for the new ones even in the heavily stuffed closet –well that surely is a skill!
We look forward to shopping for the best and the latest trends in our traditional and ethnic wear collections, flocking around the popular shopping streets and malls in our own towns, or sometimes even the neighboring big city, or sometimes, even go to the extent of crossing all the national boundaries and fetching the stuff that we want.
No excuses over that!
Considering the influx of a variety of designs, even our Indian traditional Punjabi suits no longer just follow a similar pattern, colors, materials, etc.
Every year you will find some new trends bringing in a lot of variety to give you a fresh look every season.
The entire fashion scene has taken a new form this wedding season, thanks to the many celebrity weddings happening around and inspiring the latest looks with a whole new gamut of traditional wear in a different light and style.
Inspired by many such celebrities, we bring to you the best of the traditional Salwars and how you can carry them to give you the most unique look this wedding season.
1. Anarkali Suits are Back in Fashion
This year we saw a huge incursion of fashion being inspired by the latest Bollywood movie called “Kalank”. Alia Bhatt set the stage on fire influencing many girls and ladies to wear the traditional Anarkalis, which are back in fashion again.
Anarkali with a georgette material, fluidic style, with heavy dupattas are a must this season to flaunt your traditional side.
Tip: Pair it up with huge jhumkas or some heavy oxidized earrings and matching Mojaris.
2. Drape it Differently
Why keep it boring when you can use your dupatta with a unique style of your own? Just make sure your dupatta is a heavy one, rest everything else can be handled.
Heavy dupattas are IN this season with various patterned works, golden Jardosi, heavy embroidered, just to give you that jazzed up look on your plain salwar kameez.
Dupattas are sure to give you that ethnic look and attention you deserve out there.
3. Cigarette Pants and Their Story
Cigarette pants were a big thing last season, and they surely hold a big space this year as well. With differently styled Kurtis, tunics, Kameez, definitely gives it an entirely different meaning. Raise your style quotient this wedding season, with the brilliant cigarette pants combined with your favorite tops. Or you can simply follow the style as shown in the pic – a bell-sleeved short Kurti, to give you that extra pop of fashion.
Tip: Pair them up with your favorite matching Mojaris, or sandals and you are good to go.
4. Dhoti Made it This Year
Some styles just do not budge to go out of style. Dhoti is certainly one of them.
This year the trend has just taken a step further by adding the beauty of the Peplum styled tops, which perfectly compliments the dhoti style pants.
Tip: Go vibrant with the colors to give you that extra pop this wedding season and compliment the look with oxidized heavy jewelry.
5. The Shararas from The 90s are Back
Yes, they are indeed back and that too with a BANG!
In the picture above, you can find Sara Ali Khan sporting a bright green Sharara with a decently embroidered short top and an equally decent matching dupatta.
So, we can infer that bright colors definitely serve their purpose when it comes to this 90s style. Albeit from the 90s, the 2019’s style is yet a bit funkier or you could try it yourself and make it suit your personality. But the Shararas is something that you shouldn’t give a miss this year.
6. The Bell-Bottoms Make a Reappearance – Albeit, with a Remarkable Change
Well, bell-bottoms were never out of fashion. And this year, the comeback is purely color and material based.
As you must have clearly guessed, pales and neutrals are a patent of this year. You can surely take a pick on your favorite material (make sure it is fluidic) and create a pattern of your favorite bell-bottoms to take this style to just another level.
7. The Skirt-Kurta Combo
The elegant look would surely make you feel the most comfortable and yet give you that sense of style you deserve this wedding season.
Make a contrasting match of the two and there you go with your fashion quotient – just a notch higher this season.
