Maruti Suzuki Sold More Than 18k Units During May 2020

NEW DELHI: Renowned automobile organisation, Maruti Suzuki posted their total sales for the month of May 2020 on Monday, June 1.

The total off-take of the company included 13,865 units within the domestic level and other 23 units to  Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).

A statement released by the company read, "The company resumed its manufacturing operations post lockdown strictly in accordance with the government regulations and guidelines, from May 12 at its Manesar facility and from May 18 at its Gurugram facility."

The company also revealed that the functioning of their plant in Gujarat also restarted, "Production also resumed at Suzuki Motor Gujarat Pvt Limited (SMG) from May 25, 2020. SMG manufactures cars on a contract basis for Maruti Suzuki."

The statement also mentions that the company successfully exported as much as 4,651 units once the operations restarted in the ports of Mundra and Mumbai, once they "ensured that all guidelines for safety were followed."

It said, "Likewise, the company's showrooms opened in accordance with the Centre and state guidelines in a graded manner across different cities."

The statement further contained, "The remaining showrooms would open in due course if they are not in containment zone or if not specifically restricted by any local guidelines."
