NEW DELHI: Airtel, the Indian global telecommunication company has paid the government Rupees 10,000 crore in the form of Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dues. The dues were made to the department of telecom (DoT).
The company paid the unfathomable amount as per the supreme court order.
Out of the entire amount, Rs. 9,500 crore was paid on Tenor and Bharti Airtel’s behalf. The remaining amount (Rs. 500 crores) was for the subsidiary, Bharti Hexacom.
In totality, Bharti Airtel owes the Department of Telecom Rs. 35,500 crore. Currently, the company in the middle of self-appraisal of accounts and the payment will be made before 17 March 2020, which is the next court hearing date.
