CBSE Staff Donate Rs 21 Lakh To PM CARES Fund

NEW DELHI: CBSE or the Central Board of Secondary Education made an announcement on Sunday, 29 March that it will contribute Rs 21 lakh which have been collected from the employees who willingly came forward to donate for the cause of fighting the coronavirus, which is spreading rapidly all across the country. The contribution will be made to the PM CARES (Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations) Fund. 

Secretary from CBSE, Anurag Tripathi gave out a statement saying, "While Group- A employees have donated two-days salary and Group- B and C employees have contributed one day Salary to Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund)."

"The country is facing Corona Virus (COVID-19) Pandemic of unprecedented magnitude posing a serious threat to the health, life and economic security of millions of people in the country," he added.

Earlier than this, CBSE also had to put on hold the ongoing board exams for class 10 and 12. Though the national lockdown initiated by the government shall continue till 15th April, no revised dates for holding the remainder of the exams have been declared. Similarly JEE (mains) and NEET examination, which are considered India's most important entrance exams have been postponed till further notice. Lakh of students would appear in these examinations.

There are currently 1,024 ongoing cases of coronavirus in our country. Twelve more cases were found in Maharashtra, now the state's total count has become 215.
