Corornavirus Leads To NEET And JEE (Main) Exams Being Postponed

NEW DELHI: In the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to postpone the following NEET (UG) and JEE (Main) May 2020 examinations, Union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' said on Friday.

The NTA, during a statement, said: "As of now the examination is proposed to be held in the last week of May 2020. The official revised date will be declared in a while after assessing the case."

Accordingly, the admit cards for the examination which were to be issued on March 27 will now be issued afterward after assessing the matters after April 15, NTA added.

Meanwhile, the HRD Minister has requested students to utilise the additional time to prepare for examinations.

"I request all students to utilise the given time to prepare for these exams well and stay safe," Pokhriyal said in a recently posted tweet.

JEE (mains) is conducted by the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) for 23 Indian Institute of Technology campuses (IITs), 18 Indian Institute of Information Technology campuses and 32 National Institute of Technology campuses, and 19 Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs).

NEET Examinations are for the students who wish to pursue undergraduate courses in medical science (MBBS) or dental courses (BDS) for government or private medical colleges or dental colleges in India. The results procured by the exam is later provided to MoHFW (Ministry of Health and  Family Warfare).
