In the video of the announcement, Aamir expressed regret that the awards couldn't be announced at an event owing to the lockdown.
He also said: "Those who didn't make it to the top five mustn't get discouraged. In fact, scriptwriters should continue writing with more enthusiasm, especially during these times. Every filmmaker needs an honest script."
The first prize of Rs 25 lakh was won by Sejal Pachisia from California, the US, whose story "On The Boundary" got unanimous thumbs-up from the jury members.
Renowned filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani also lauded the winners and all the participants. He also expressed happiness after seeing such a platform which gave the opportunity to young writers from all over the world a chance to share their work. He said, "Slowly and steadily we are moving towards our goal. I hope that I would be able to meet and work with at least some of the winners someday,"
