The reunion has been in talks for a long time now but after this unexpected reveal we can finally we convinced that it’s happening and this is not a drill! By the end of 2019, the show left the platform of Netflix US. This probably means that the entire show, along with the upcoming reunion special will now be available on HBO Max, which has bagged the streaming rights for the reunion special.

Kevil Reilly, who is the chief content officer at HBO Max has revealed, “Guess you could call this the one where they all got back together — we are reuniting with David, Jennifer, Courtney, Matt, Lisa, and Matthew for an HBO Max special that will be programmed alongside the entire ‘Friends’ library.”

Reilly, who is also the exclusive president of TNT, and truTV, further mentioned, “I became aware of ‘Friends’ when it was in the very early stages of development and then had the opportunity to work on the series many years later and have delighted in seeing it catch on with viewers generation after generation. It taps into an era when friends – and audiences – gathered together in real time and we think this reunion special will capture that spirit, uniting original and new fans.”

Along with the original executive producers like, Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman and David Crane, the entire cast is also producing the show alongside,  Warner Bros. Unscripted & Alternative Television and Fulwell 73 Productions. The special will be directed by Ben Winston, who has worked with artists like One Direction, JLS, Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow and James Corden.
