MUMBAI: The Shah Rukh Khan La Trobe University PhD Scholarship was named after the actor last year. The young candidate who has been awarded the scholarship for 2020 is Gopika Kottantharayil Bhasi from Kerala. Khan mentioned that he is a firm believer in education.
Gopika is a researcher belongs to Thrissur, Kerala. She has been studying farming practices via ecology, molecular studies, and animal science. She was chosen as the scholarship candidate from over 800 other Indian women. The scholarship awarded to her is for 4 years and the ceremony took place in Mumbai on Wednesday.

The 'king of Bollywood' was present at the event for the felicitation ceremony where he spoke a few words.
"I'm a staunch believer in education and I would like to congratulate Gopika. The way forward for everyone is to educate and there's never an end to education. Empowering and educating women is key and the world goes forward with educating women. I think education in India or anywhere else in the world is a step forward," he said.

The actor also mentioned that he is glad that Gopika would be doing her PhD research from La Trobe as it is a fantastic university.
He expressed, "I admire Gopika's dedication and determination. This scholarship will enable her to travel to La Trobe in Melbourne, Australia where she will pursue her dreams of helping to improve India's agriculture sector."
In the work front, the actor is focussing on producing. His production and distribution company, Red Chillies Entertainment is producing the upcoming film 'Kaamyaab'. He wishes for everyone to enjoy this "small film with a biggish heart."
