NEW DELHI: The total nationwide tally of COVID-19 positive cases have reached 78,003 on Thursday i.e. 14 May 2020. There was a spike in the cases by 3,722 in the last 24 hours. Around 134 people also lost their lives to the virus in the past 24 hours duration.
As per the daily 8 am update by the Union Health Ministry, the total fatality rate due to the coronavirus is 2,549. Currently, there are 49,219 active cases in India.

The Health Ministry also revealed that the rate at which the cases are doubling has also improved from 10.9 days to 12.2 days.
Maharashtra is the state with the most COVID-19 cases as there are currently 25,922 individuals in the state battling the virus. After Maharashtra comes Gujarat, it has 9,267 cases. It is followed by Tamil Nadu, which currently has 9,227.
Nation's Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman announced the first instalment of the 20 lakh economic package on Wednesday, 13 May. It was earlier declared by Narendra Modi on Tuesday. The measures featured rupees 3 lakh crore collateral-free automatic loan for businesses and also MSMEs (Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises).

An announcement regarding how to go about the next phase of the lockdown will also be declared before 18 May 2020. In his address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi did mention that the upcoming 4th phase of the lockdown will be different from the 3rd one. In the latest phase, some relaxations have already been given by the government.
