NEW DELHI: Another grim milestone was hit by pandemic-affected India today, the biggest spike in the cases happened in the recent 24 hours as 9,996 new cases got detected. Hence, the total tally of the country has now gone beyond, 2.86 lakh, i.e. 2,86,579 to be precise. States like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and capital city Delhi have been reporting rapidly increasing cases day by day.
The death rate was also on the rise as 357 deaths occurred in a single day, the highest yet. The total fatality tally of the nation now stands at 8,102. Maharashtra reported 194 deaths out of the total tally, which again is the highest yet for the state.

The active cases are also rapidly increasing and have reached 1,37,448, as per the recent update by the website of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. On the bright side, more than 1.40 lakh individuals have also made a full recovery from the life-endangering virus. It also happened for the second time that cured individuals surpassed the count of active cases.
Maharashtra observed 3,235 new cases in a single day. The total tally of the state, unfortunately, has gone beyond the 94,000-mark. Out of the total tally of the state, capital city Mumbai accounts for 52,667 cases instead.
Delhi reported as much as 1,500 new cases in the last 24 hours. The total tally of the national capital is now 32,810. The death toll of the capital is 984.

Tamil Nadu saw it's biggest spike in the number of cases yet by detecting 1,927 cases in 1 day. The tally rose to 36,841. For the 4th consecutive day, more than 1,500 cases have been reported in the state.
