NEW DELHI: More than 1,00,000 cases related to the coronavirus persists in India as per the recent update by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The death toll has also risen to 3,163.
In the last 24 hours, i.e. on Monday, May 18, India surpassed the 1 lakh-mark as around 4,970 cases and 134 new deaths got reported. To be exactly precise, the total tally of India is now at 1,01,139, as per the figures shown in on the website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare which got updated today, May 19 at 8 am.

As per the Health Ministry, India is doing better compared to the rest of the countries which have been affected as there are 7.1 cases per 1 lakh population. The ministry also reported for the recovery rate of the nation to be 38.39%.
As the 4th phase of the lockdown began from Monday, May 18, the guidelines got revised and the reopening of markets, intrastate transport services and hair salons got announced in some of the states. The containment zones don't have the permission to carry out any such economic activities.

The lockdown was initiated on 25 March for the very first time. It was supposed to last for 21 days and end on April 14, it got extended till May 3 and then until May 17. As per the recent updates, the lockdown has been extended by 2 additional weeks and will supposedly end by May 31.
