THRISSUR: While India reports many hundreds of suicide cases in a year, a Kerala man committed suicide on Friday for an absolute bizarre reason. A 37-year-old man allegedly took his own life at his house here as all the liquor vents were shut since Wednesday and thus, there was no liquor available to him.
His family said that Sanoj, the name of the man, was restless for the last two days since the Kerala government decided to shut down all the retail liquor vents from Wednesday after receiving huge pressure from several quarters.

While this seems an absolute nonsense reason, it is true that some people are so addicted to intoxication that they cannot bear to live without it. And that is exactly what happened in this case.
After the man Sanoj, a bachelor was also found hanging near his house on Friday morning. Police has registered the case under unnatural death.
A.C. Moideen, Local Self-Government Minister, who hails from Thrissur, said that they will be taking all steps possible so as to help the needy. There has also been an announcement by Kerala Excise Department that free services will be given at different de-addiction and counselling centres to all those who are suffering physically or mentally due to the unavailability of alcohols. Even by calling the Excise Department's toll-free number 14405, one can avail the services.
