NEW DELHI: Ace boxer and Rajya Sabha MP Mary Kom recently broke the 14-day quarantine protocol amid the coronavirus scare. The guidelines were put in place by the World Health Organization (WHO) and by governments all over the world.
Mary Kom competed in the Asia-Oceania Olympic qualifiers in Jordan and returned home on 13th March. After her return, she was supposed to be in 14-days self-isolation but attended the breakfast hosted by President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on March 18th.

The boxer could be seen in the pictures tweeted by the official account of the President of India with all the other Member of Parliament. The pictures were captioned, "President Kovind hosted Members of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan for breakfast at Rashtrapati Bhavan this morning."

BJP MP Dushyant Singh was also present there who earlier came in contact with Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor who has been tested positive for the infection. Singh, however, now is in self-quarantine. He also posed threat to all the other MPs as well as to President Kovind. Sources said that the President will be tested for the novel virus n Saturday.
Santiago Nieva, boxing coach, informed that all the Indian boxing contingent, who participated in Jordan, are under the mandatory 14-day quarantine. Nieva said, "10 days we had planned but now it becomes 14 days. So after 10 days,I am working on a training program which I will send them. After this period they can start on that. If this is not solved within two weeks then we will have to continue like this as best as we can."

Accepting that she did attend the President's event, Mary Kom said, "I am home since I came back from Jordan. I only attended the President's event and did not meet Dushyant or shake hands with. My quarantine after Jordan ends but I'm going to be at home only for the next 3-4 days."
