India is all set to conduct it’s 15th Auto Expo Event at Delhi NCR. It is the nation’s largest automobile event which has been organised from 6th February 2020 to 12th February 2020. The event will be conducted in two parts, the components show from 6th February to 9th February 2020 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Whereas, the motor show will be held at the Expo Mart, Greater Noida from 7th February to 12th February 2020.
Initially, the organisers had considered postponing the show to 2021, due to a slow-down in India’s motor industry. However, it is now happening this year with about 60 new vehicular launches and new offerings in technological aspects. Many international brands will also feature at the show for the first time.
One of the iconic highlights of this year’s Auto Expo will be that companies like Reliance Jio and Facebook will also be seen during the event.
Rajesh Menon, who is the Director General of SIAM mentioned, “Auto Expo 2020 is expected to be the biggest driver of consumer sentiment. Passenger vehicle original equipment manufacturers, accounting for 85 per cent of the market share, and commercial vehicle OEMs, accounting for 75 per cent of the market share, are participating in this expo.” SIAM stands for ‘Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers’. It is one of the organisers of the event along with The Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) and The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
The 60 releases at the event will include two-wheelers, passenger cars and commercial vehicles. They will showcase the future of mobility in the country. Many launches at the event will feature pre-existing models but with BS 6 compliant engines. This is due to the Supreme Court ruling under which, all the vehicles which will be sold after March 2020 need to have Bharat Stage 6 emission norms, which is also known as BS 6. The Central Pollution Control Board under the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change are the ones who decide the Bharat Stage Emission Standards (BSES).
Due to changing climate and environment being at risk, over 15 startups specialising in technological solutions with green mobility and services will be featured at the event. Companies, old and new like Force Motors, FAW Haima, Great Wall, Volkswagen, MG Motors, Skoda and so on will also be seen at the expo.
