BENGALURU: India based e-commerce company, Flipkart has vouched to provide leaves with full pay and benefits to the delivery workers of the company if any of them end up contracting the highly-contagious and life-threatening Coronavirus or if they are ordered to be quarantining.
The company also took some major measures to ensure the safety of all the employees by making infra-red thermometers temperature screening compulsory for all the workers, which includes vendors, employees and even visitors.

Amitesh Jha, the senior vice president of eKart & Marketplace at Flipkart posted a blog on 18 March 2020 which mentioned, "For our supply chain and logistics network, we have organised more than 3,000 awareness sessions covering over 100k employees across all our facilities on how our employees and partners can minimize their exposure by following simple precautionary measures."
It was also informed by Jha that the employees who deliver goods are covered with life as well as medical insurance.
As the coronavirus pandemic has compelled nearly everyone to stay at home, the need for digital services has increased rapidly.
The company also reported that it has observed, "overwhelming demand for essential products".
Jha further said, "We appreciate the dedication and customer-first approach of our supply chain executives, wish masters and delivery partners during this challenging time. They have reiterated their commitment to serving customers and overcoming many challenges to meet the overwhelming demand for essential products."
Flipkart has also advised the customers to opt for digital payment methods in order to stay safer during the rising coronavirus cases and avoid contact with any person face to face.

Jha also mentioned, "Customers also have the option of requesting the delivery partner to leave their packages at the security booth of their residential complexes in line with their complex's guidelines (in case of online payments)."
