Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has mourned the death of an eminent Indian cine actor Shreeram Lagoo, who passed away late Tuesday night.
A successful ENT surgeon Shreeram Lagoo had left his career for his love and passion for acting. Lagoo decided to perform on stage in 1969 and then entered the cinema world. He flattered the audience with his acting skills in Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi. The actor took to heavenly aboard on late Tuesday due to age-related illness at his home in Pune.
While the shocked celebrities from the B-town took to Twitter to express grief over the loss of one of Bollywood's stalwarts, the Indian PM too joined the bandwagon and mourned the death of the veteran Bollywood actor. PM Modi wrote on Twitter, "Dr. Shreeram Lagoo personified versatility and brilliance. Through the years, he enthralled audiences with outstanding performances. His work will be remembered for years to come. Anguished by his demise. Condolences to his admirers. Om Shanti."
Apart from PM Modi, celebs like Rishi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Paresh Rawal and others too expressed their condolences and remember the 'Natasamrat' actor.
Lagoo was 92 in age and passed due to age-illness.
He is known for his iconic characters like 'Ganpatrao in Appasaheb Belvalkar' in the play Natasamrat. He would always be remembered for this act as said by his audience.
The actor had worked in over 00 films including Hindi, Marathi, and Gujarati.
Some of his works that have been registered in the history of Indian Cinema are 'Gharonda', Gandhi', 'Thodi Bewafayi', 'Des Pardes', 'Muqadar Ka Sikander' and 'Shriman Shrimati'.
The films which Lagoo had worked in have registered themselves in the list of evergreen films of Indian Cine Industry.
