MUMBAI: The director of the much-awaited film 'Angrezi Medium', Homi Adajania put everything on hold just to wait for Irrfan Khan to feel better so that he could shoot the film. Khan was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor in 2018 and had to go to London for the treatment before the shooting of the film. However, Homi knew that without Khan, this sequel to 'Hindi Medium' would be nothing.
With 'Angrezi Medium', Irrfan Khan will be making a come back to the cinematic world after a year and a half. When asked how he feels about his return to the movies, director Homi Adajania said, "A legend doesn’t come back. He’s always there."

The director cleared it that he had thought about it earlier that this movie would be made only with Irrfan otherwise it won't get made. Describing the whole journey that was "against all odds", Homi said, "While the making of the movie, Irrfan was undergoing treatment, so there would be good days and bad days. There was an uncertainty about his energy levels, considering how difficult shoots can be. I did put everything on hold and decided to wait for him to make this. Dinoo (Dinesh Vijan, producer) and I were very clear that Angrezi Medium would be made with Irrfan only. And I took the risk, knowing that it would be an experience that my crew and I would cherish."
The film, that will be released this Friday, is also a comeback for Adajania into the world of filmmaking after six long years. His last directorial was Arjun Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer 'Finding Fanny'. Speaking about his likings and how he proceeds with any project, he said, "I cancel a project if I don’t get the cast I want or if I feel the script hasn’t shaped up to its full potential. Basically, living life is a full-time job and in between I make films. Meanwhile, I indulge in reading, adventure sports, raising my kids, travelling, writing and much more."

Besides Irrfan, the movie also features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepak Dobriyal, Radhika Madan, Dimple Kapadia, Kiku Sharda, Pankaj Tripathi and Ranveer Shorey. Talking about Bebo, Radhika and Dimple, Homi said, "Kareena is a very intuitive actor. Acting courses through her veins and she is very easy to direct. I feel Radhika has a very bright future as an actor because she is fearless and hungry to learn. Dimple is uninhibited as an actor and more so as a human being. We both are a little crazy and love having a laugh."
