India woke up to find the country rid of 4 atrocious rapists who successfully exploited the justice system for 7 long years. At last, the law caught up to them and they were hanged to death at 5:30 a.m on 20 March.

Social media was flooded with celebratory messages and worded sighs of relief; several Bollywood celebs also joined the wave and expressed their solidarity with the parents of Nirbhaya, who strived for 7 years.

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor took to Twitter to criticize people behind the delay in hanging: "Nirbhaya Justice. Jaisi karni waisi bharni. Let this set an example not only in India but world over. Punishment for rape is by death. You have to respect womanhood. Shame on the people who delayed the execution. Jai Hind!"

'Pink' actor Tapsee Pannu shared a screenshot of the breaking news on Twitter and said:

"#JusticeForNirbhaya My thoughts and prayers are with the parents, friends & loved ones of Nirbhaya. The wait has been long but the justice has been served," tweeted actor Riteish Deshmukh.

He also called for harsher punishment and fast courts for quick justice.

Preity Zinta tweeted: "Finally the #Nirbhayacase comes to an end. I wish it would have been faster but I'm happy it's over. Finally she & her parents are in peace. #RIPJyoti #RIPNirbhaya #Justicedelayed #TookTooLong."

Sushmita Sen hailed the resilience of Asha Devi, Nirbhaya's mother in her tweet:
