MUMBAI: Chhapaak's title track is finally out and it surely is heart-wrenching. The song was digitally released on Friday and depicts what all trauma and pain Malti had to go through after getting mercilessly victimized through an acid attack. However, the acid only destroyed her face, not her courage.
Talking about the recently released song, Deepika, who plays Malti in the movie, referred to it as the soul of the movie that binds the film together. She also revealed that she always gets goosebumps whenever she listens to the song.

The song is the journey of Malti, how she faces the heinous act of acid attack, how she overcomes that and conquers the battle of her versus acid sale. The song is a perfect depiction of Malti becoming the prime face of women empowerment in the country.
Crooned by the very talented Arijit Singh, "Chhapaak" has to be the best-suited song to reverberate with the movie's emotions. The song has been penned by the legendary Gulzar and is composed by the music trio Shankar Ehsaan Loy. With such a great team and an incredible storyline, the song is a sure-shot hit.
During the trailer launch, Laxmi Agarwal (whose real-life story inspired the movie) was also present along with the cast and crew of 'Chhapaak'.The acid attack survivor and activist got emotional when Shankar Mahadevan started singing the song based on her life only. Deepika consoled her but also got a bit teary herself.
'Chhapaak' is based on Laxmi's life who was attacked when she was 16 years old in 2005. A middle-aged man, who got rejected by her, could not take this rejection and thus carried out such a shameful crime. However, the incident did not crush her and she became the head of the campaign 'Stop Acid Sales'.

Besides Deepika Padukone, the movie also stars Vikrant Massey in a prominent role. This Meghna Gulzar directorial will hit the screens on 10th January clashing with Ajay Devgn's 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior'.
