LUCKNOW: Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor has created havoc in the country after she tested positive for the novel coronavirus and hid her travel history. Following her negligence and carelessness, an FIR has been lodged against her by Lucknow's Chief Medical Officer Narendra Kumar Agarwal, late on Friday.

The CMO has filed the FIR against Kapoor at the Sarojini Nagar Police Station under Sections 269 (negligently acting in a way likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life), 188 (disobedience of an order duly promulgated by a public servant) and 270 (malignant act likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Kanika was tested positive for the infection on Friday morning and was immediately admitted to SGPGIMS' isolation ward in Lucknow. In the complaint, the CMO alleges that the singer came back from London to Lucknow and did not quarantine herself despite being aware of the situation of the country. She partied for days and socially interacted with a number of people in Lucknow as well as in Kanpur.

The singer has posed a threat to the lives of at least 100 people. She has even come in contact with BJP's MLA Dushyant Singh who later met President Ram Nath Kovind. While Singh is in self-quarantine, President Kovind will be tested for COVID-19 on Saturday, says a source close to the President.

Confirming the news of the FIR, Deputy Commissioner of Police Central Lucknow, Dinesh Kumar Singh said, "On the basis of the CMO's complaint, an FIR was lodged against Kapoor on charges of negligently committing an act likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life, a malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life, and disobeying an order duly promulgated by a public servant."
