MUMBAI: Karan Johar introduced a gem to the world of Bollywood and was Alia Bhatt. However, the debut movie 'Student of The Year' was clearly a no match with the abundance of talent that the B-Town's darling has and even Karan Johar agrees on that.
Recently, the ace filmmaker confessed that he has not been able to utilize the talent that the 'Raazi' actress has and considers 'Highway' as her professional launch instead of the college drama. He said, "She wasn’t used for her talent at all. In many ways, her emotional launch is Student of the Year but her real professional launch is Imtiaz Ali’s Highway. The way he nurtured her as an actor, the way he put her out there is something I didn’t do at all. I always spotted that there was something about her but I didn’t use her talent at all. I actually don’t feel I full-fledged ever directed Alia the way I would like to do."

Karan, however, will be directing his godchild Bhatt in his upcoming periodical drama 'Takht' but still due to the huge ensemble consisting of A-list actors, the actor won't be having enough screen time. That is why Johar is still dissatisfied with his collaboration with the bubbly girl and looks forward to making a film that will truly show Bhatt's caliber as an artist.
"Even Takht is an ensemble, she has a solid part in a way that she is extremely beautiful. It is one of my favorite tracks in the film but I still feel believe she and I have a film to make. A film that we can be known for. I haven’t really leveraged this whole lot of talent that we know," said Johar.
While Ranveer Singh and Vicky Kaushal play Dara Shikoh and Aurangzeb respectively in the film, Alia's role is still unknown. Kareena Kapoor Khan will be seen as Jahanara Begum whereas Anil Kapoor will portray Vicky and Ranveer's father Shahjahan. The star cast does not end here as it also has Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor.

The movie is slated to release on February 1st, 2021.
