LOS ANGELES: The 92nd Academy Awards, most commonly known as the Oscars, are all set to happen on 9th February 2020. This is one of the most important events from the Hollywood Film Industry where some of the best works of the year 2019 will be honoured. The nomination list was released last night with 24 categories.
The dark psychological thriller, ‘Joker’, about the DC Comic villain has led the nominations by 11 mentions. Joaquin Phoenix, who portrayed the role of Joker has become the first individual to have a nomination for the best actor from a comic book film. ‘The Irishman’, ‘1917’ and ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’, got nominated for 10 awards each.
The Korean film, ‘Parasite’ is the only foreign-language film to be nominated for this year. In totality, it is the 12th foreign film to have been nominated in the best picture category. Scarlett Johansson is the first person to have a nomination for ‘Best Actress’(Marriage Story) and ‘Best Supporting Actress’ (Jojo Rabbit) in this year’s awards.
