MUMBAI: More than a decade ago, Imtiaz Ali's 'Love Aaj Kal' hit the silver screen starring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. Now, in 2020 Saif's daughter Sara Ali Khan will feature in its sequel but dad Khan does "not know how to feel about it."
In an interview, Saif was asked about his feelings of his daughter Sara filling in his shoes for the sequel of his hit film. To this Saif was a bit confused as he did not know how to feel though it was "great" for him. Joking that even he could have acted in the sequel, the Omkara actor said, "It’s great but I don’t know how to feel about it. Even I could have acted in the sequel (laughs). I just did the remix of my song, Ole Ole (from Yeh Dillagi) for Jawaani Jaaneman and now my daughter is acting in a sequel of my film. It’s lovely and I wish her all the best. Time really is flying."
The sequel of the 2009 release is tentatively titled 'Aaj Kal' and besides the Simmba girl, it stars her rumored ex-beau Kartik Aaryan in the main lead. Just like the original, 'Aaj Kal' is also helmed by Imtiaz Ali. Randeep Hooda and Pranati Rai Prakash will be seen in prominent roles.
The shooting has already been wrapped up and for the Kedarnath actress, it was a film with a million memories. Sara posted an emotional post thanking her director Ali and co-star Aaryan. For Imtiaz, she wrote, "I truly appreciate your warmth, patience and consideration with me every single day. Being on your set has been a privilege that I will always cherish and already miss."
Further, she also stated that she will miss Kartik more than ever. She wrote, "Thank you @kartikaaryan for instantly making me comfortable with you, for selflessly giving and for consistently looking out for me. From coffee’s about you to chai’s with you, I wish we could do it all over. I’m going to miss you more than you know and more than I can admit."
'Aaj Kal' is slated to release on 14th February 2020.
