Mumbai: Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor is making the headlines but for a wrong reason. Actor is believed to have walked out mid ceremony during an award show, apparently after realising that he is losing the 'best actor' award to Ranveer Singh.
Sources close to the organizers said that Shahid also skipped his stage performance and it became a real mess for them to fill his place. Due to the last minute chaos, Varun Dhawan was requested to fill Shahid’s slot and was convinced to perform.
The source added, “There was an understanding that the actor will give a stage performance as he was told he would win the award. Clearly, he wasn’t too happy with the results and walked out of the show.”
It is to be mentioned that Ranveer Singh was nominated for his performance in Gully Boy and Kapoor was in the nomination list for Kabir Singh, one of Bollywood’s most controversial yet successful films of 2019.
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time when there have been issues between Kapoor and Singh. The actors worked together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's epic period drama ‘Padmavat’. During production and post the release of film, many rumours were making rounds stating that Shahid is not happy with Bhansali and Ranveer. The reason mentioned was that the ‘Haider’ star felt he wasn’t getting sufficient screen time.
A source close to the actor, however, has denied the supposed incident and mentioned, “Shahid is a meticulous professional and a man of his words. He despite being advised bed rest, tried to make ends meet and attended the show. Due to health issues he was unable to fulfil his commitments.”
