NEW DELHI: China’s coronavirus epidemic has been making headlines for a long time on a global level. A few cases of the life-threatening virus were observed in India as well, meaning, the virus has a high risk of spreading across our country too.
Therefore, Indians took to the search engine of Google to discover more about the virus, it’s symptoms, methods to take precaution, it’s causes and so on. However, instead of searching for ‘coronavirus’, the term given to the virus, many of them ended up ‘Googling’, ‘Corona beer virus’.
Ongoing Google India trends have indicated that many panic-stricken citizens assumed the virus has to do something with the international beer brand, ‘Corona’, which has originated from the city of Mexico.
The search result from Google revealed that a huge number of Indians looked up the term ‘Corona Beer Virus’, including people who belong from the regions of Canada, America, and Australia.
More than a dozen cases of coronavirus have come forward in India. The recent one being a girl, who returned to Bihar from China. Despite 80 deaths and over thousands of new cases the World Health Organisation has refused to declare the dangerous outbreak as a ‘global health emergency’. India has also been taking measures to stop the virus from spreading by conducting screenings at the airports and increased vigil across its borders.
