NEW DELHI: Desperation reeks as the atrocious rapists of a 23-year-old paramedical student fight tooth and nails to save their lives. Three out of the four death row convicts have moved to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) seeking a stay on the execution of their death sentence scheduled on 20 March.
Rapists Akshay, Pawan and Vinay have approached the international court. This move comes after the Supreme Court ordered the petition filed by Mukesh Singh which sought action against his former lawyer Vrinda Grover to be withdrawn.
Meanwhile, the family members of the four rapists are also creating unnecessary drama at the doors of justice by seeking out President Ram Nath Kovind's permission for euthanasia.
On the fateful cold December night, 6 men dared to touch a woman against her will; they beat up her friend and later viciously gang-raped her on a moving bus. They inserted iron rods in her, causing massive damage to her genitals, uterus, and intestines. "She was found with injury marks, including numerous bite marks, all over her body. According to reports, one of the accused men admitted to having seen a rope-like object, assumed to be her intestines, being pulled out of the woman by the other assailants on the bus."
While Nirbhaya's mother yearns for justice for her daughter, the four convicts continue to breathe in jail, drawing pictures of their victim, writing poems on her and calling themselves 'darindey'.
Their date of execution has already been rescheduled thrice, a fourth time will be a resonating slap on the faces of women who knock at the doors of justice with hope. Hanging the four rapists may not affect the crime rate against women at all. But, it is time we teach these men IT IS NOT OKAY TO TOUCH A WOMAN WITHOUT HER CONSENT.
They are scheduled to be hanged to death on 20 March.
