Coronavirus: Highest Ever Spike In India With 6,767 New Cases In 1 Day

NEW DELHI: The fresh coronavirus cases which emerge on a per-day basis have continued to increase. The country reportedly observed it's highest spike till date as 6,767 new cases came up in the time period of just 24 hours. The total tally of India is now at 1.31 lakh. As per the updates on the website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare today i.e. May 24 at 8 am, the total tally increased to 1,31,868. The death toll also rose to 3,867 as 147 deaths occurred in the past one day.

India has nearly 73,560 active cases and the recovery rate is also good as around 54,440 patients who were suffering from the virus have now been cured and discharged from medical facilities. The recovery rate of the nation in percentage is 41.28% by now.

The eastern state of Sikkim, which had managed to not have any coronavirus cases until now reported its first case as a 25-year-old student who got back from Delhi tested COVID-19 positive.

 Maharastra is the state with the most coronavirus cases as it has around 47,190 infected individuals. After this, comes Tamil Nadu with 15,512 cases, Gujarat has 13,664 and Delhi has had 12,910 cases by now.

As per a worldwide survey, India is the 11th most-affected country with coronavirus right now. The tally for active cases is more than countries like Germany, Iran, Spain, Turkey, Italy and so on, which are on the top 10.
