Foreign Ministry, airlines issue travel advisory for Hong Kong

Amid the recent protests in Hong Kong, the Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday issued a advisory to the people travelling to Hong Kong as their international airport was seriously hit by thousands of protesters.
"Indian passengers are advised to be in touch with airlines to find alternative travel routes to avoid inconvenience, till normalcy is restored in airport operations," the statement read.
"The Ministry advised all Indian passengers to be in touch with their respective airlines for information about likely timelines for the resumption of their flights. For any further assistance it also shared the helpline number too. "Consulate can be reached at our helpline at 852 90771083," the statement added.
Apart from the Ministry, couple of airlines also tweeted.

Yesterday, Airport authorities of Hong Kong cancelled all the flights, after hundreds of protesters swarmed inside the terminal for the fouth consecutive day.
The authorities then issued a notice on the website saying: "Airport operations at Hong Kong International Airport have been seriously disrupted, all flights have been canceled. All passengers are advised to leave the terminal buildings as soon as possible. Affected passengers please contact their respective airlines for flight arrangement,"
Accroding to Airports Council International (ACI), Hong Kong is rated as the world's busiest air cargo port and it is also on the eighth spot in busiest passenger traffic list.
Protests broke out in Hong Kong two months ago when authorities proposed a Bill that would have allowed them to extradite suspects to places with which the city doesn’t have extradition treaties, including mainland China. Slowly it esclated shakned the whole region.
