NEW DELHI: According to a report by a group of intellectuals, it was revealed that the recent violence in northeast Delhi was a "planned conspiracy". It has further demanded an NIA inquiry.

Besides, the report also recommended rehabilitation for all the victims in the riots and has urged the central government to initiate confidence-building measures.

'Delhi Riots 2020 -- Report from Ground Zero' report by Group of Intellectuals and Academicians (GIA) said that they traced evidence of an Urban Naxal-Jihadi network that had master-planned the violence and then executed it.

The report said, "The Delhi Riots, 2020 were pre-planned. There are pieces of evidence of a 'Left-Jihadi model of revolution' that has been executed in Delhi and is sought to be replicated at other places... the Delhi riots are not genocide or a pogrom targeted at any community. They are a tragic outcome of a planned and systematic radicalization of minorities by far left-Urban Naxal network operating in universities in Delhi."

It further added that both the communities have suffered on a great scale as a result of the riots.

"The presence of Jihadi organisations like Popular Front of India (PFI) at dharna sites has been observed," said the report.

The GIA which was found in 2015 is a group of women and entrepreneurs, media persons, and academics committed to social justice and nation-building. It comprises Advocate Monika Arora, Sonali Chitalkar (Miranda House), Shruti Mishra (PG DAV College --Evening), Delhi University Assistant Professors Prerna Malhotra (Ram Lal Anand College) and Divyansha Sharma (Institute of Home Economics).

The report said that the riots were a result of a long-period radicalization of Muslims. "Around December 15, 2019, and two weeks after that, protest sites were established in all major areas with a concentration of Muslim population," said the reports.

It also reported that the violence originated in the anti-CAA protest sites and used women as their shield. It said, "In all dharna sites, women were kept at the forefront while men operated from behind this shield."

The report also said that the majority of protest sites relayed a continuing stream of high-decibel sloganeering continuously for the past eight weeks resulting in anxiety and fear among the population of the area.

The 48-page-long report also said that the Jihadi mobs were indulged in looting, targeted killings and shops' vandalization.

"On February 24, violence spread to Bhajanpura, Shiv Vihar, Gokulpuri, Brijpuri, Brahmpuri, and surrounding areas. There was widespread evidence of mobs of women and men attacking Delhi Police, important public places like petrol pumps, and high-value properties belonging to the Hindus. There is evidence of the use of high-rise buildings in the areas as sites for launching petrol bombs, Molotov cocktails; big-sized catapults capable of launching bricks have also been found," added the report.

The report also claims that the riots' are linked across the national borders, adding ISIS-type brutal killings points toward the same. It also revealed that the rioters were not the residents of the involved areas instead they were some outsiders.
