Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party's Member of Parliament Bhagwant Mann has landed himself into a controversy after he got into a heated argument with a media person during his press conference in Chandigarh. The Lok Sabha MP from Sangrur got irked by a journalist's question about Shiromani Akali Dal emerging as the main opposition party in Punjab as compared to the AAP.
Journalist's statement that the AAP remains absent from political discourse was not taken very well by the MP, who first tried to dismiss the question, but then responded angrily saying, "who says Akali Dal is the main opposition party? Who tells you Akali Dal is the main opposition? Which dharna do they hold, against whom? You are taking Sukhbir Badal seriously, he is a retarded child."
It is to be mentioned that the Shiromani Akali Dal has announced that it would be organising dharna against the Congress government in Punjab.
Bhagwant Mann stated that opposition is not defined by dharnas but by the questions. He asked the reporter, "did you read who raised maximum questions?"
The Lok Sabha MP stood up and charged towards the reporter when he continued his questioning. After arguing for a while, the AAP leader walked out off the press conference from the Chandigarh Press Club. The club later issued a statement saying journalists who had gone to attend Mann's press conference have decided to boycott the event after his outburst.
