I Hope Every Girl Can Experience Being Her Truest Self: Anushka Sharma

MUMBAI: Bollywood superstar Anushka Sharma has some inspiring words to share on the account of International Women's Day. The actress said she grew up in such an environment that she faced no discrimination it, on the basis of her gender.

She said, "I have grown up in an environment where I was allowed to do whatever I wanted. My father gave me that. It's sad that even now in so many homes in India, you don't let the girl just be free."

The actress talked about the recently released song from the upcoming film Angrezi Medium called "Kudi Nu Nachne De", in which she has featured, "This is what the song is saying, to let the girl make mistakes and discover herself. It's so sad that even now in so many homes in India, people don't let the girl just be free and be their truest self. I hope every girl can experience that the way I did," she shared.

Many renowned actresses from this generation like Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Ananya Panday and Kiara Advani, along with Anushka starred in the song. It has been sung by Vishal Dadlani and is based on the idea of equality and being respectful towards someone's wishes.

The forthcoming film 'Angrezi Medium' is a story of a father-daughter duo. It stars Irrfan Khan as the single father and Radhika Madan as his daughter. The film also has a star cast of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Pankaj Tripathi, Deepak Dobriyal, Ranvir Shorey playing important roles.

Homi Adajania, the director of the film also spoke on the account of Women's day, "It should be celebrated every day," he says.

The film is being produced by Jio Studios, Maddock Films and Dinesh Vijan. It is set for a March 13 release.
