COVID19:No Movement Except For Essential Services Says Delhi LG Anil Baijal

NEW DELHI: Anil Baijal, Delhi's Lt. Governor, has directed all the DMs and DCPs to make sure that there will be absolutely no movement during the period of nationwide lockdown except for availing of basic necessities. 

Besides, he strictly said that there will be no gatherings in the national capital, social distancing has to be maintained and the DMs and DCPs should take care of the supply chain of essentials goods.

In a tweet, the LG wrote, "All DMs & DCPs to jointly ensure -- 1. No movement except for availing essential services is allowed; 2. No congregation is allowed; 3. Social distancing is maintained under all circumstances; and 4. No one goes hungry and supply chain of essential services and goods is maintained."

During his second address to the nation on 23rd March regarding the global pandemic coronavirus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced 21 days' lockdown to combat the disease and social distancing is the only method to win over the virus. The lockdown started at midnight on 24th March and will end on April 15th. However, it is reported that the lockdown might get extended but the government has claimed the reports false.

India has so far reported 1071 positive cases for COVID-19. While 99 people out of them have been recovered, 29 have lost their lives, thus, leaving 942 active cases. Globally, the pandemic has affected more than 7,20,000 people and has claimed over 33,000 lives.
