The Indian cricket star is currently recovering from his back injury and that is why he has to miss out on the One Day International and Twenty20 International against West Indies and Bangladesh.

He will also be missing from India's upcoming series against Australia and Sri Lanka that will be played on the Indian turf. However, he has been named in the team's A squad for the New Zealand tour.

Hardik was last seen playing his international T20 against South Africa in September 2019 and soon after went for surgery for his lower back injury in London.

In an interview, the 26-year-old all-rounder revealed why he did not want to delay his surgery. He said, "We thought this was the right time because even if I take four months, I will be coming back before the New Zealand series, mid-way actually. That was the plan that I play some international games, the IPL and then the World T20. The biggest concern was the World T20 which touch wood is now in place."
